A Cincinnati man has been found guilty of murder in the 2006 shooting of the friend of Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. Hosea Thomas was found guilty Wednesday of murdering T.I.'s entourage member, 26-year-old Philant Johnson. The 34-year-old Thomas was also convicted of felonious assault and illegally having a gun after a felony conviction. T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, testified last week in Thomas' trial. The rapper told jurors that he believes the bullets fired at his entourage during the gun battle two years ago in Cincinnati were meant for him. He wasn't injured.

Donda West's Nephew Under Investigation

A year after Kanye West's mother, Donda, 58, died while recovering from plastic surgery California authorities have launched a probe into the possible role of Donda West's nephew, Stephan Scoggins, 46. A registered nurse, Scoggins was supervising West's post-surgery care with West's assistant and a friend when, according to a source familiar with the situation, he left the house to attend a baby shower the day after West underwent breast augmentation and liposuction last Nov. 10. West died that evening at a Los Angeles hospital. At the time, the death of the rapper's mother was described by a family spokesman as "the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure," a statement that placed intense scrutiny on West's surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams. But last January, a Los Angeles coroner ruled that West died of "multiple post-operative factors," effectively clearing Dr. Adams of responsibility. In this new development, an investigator with the California Department of Consumer Affairs has issued subpoenas asking individuals "to testify in the matter of the investigation of Stephan Scoggins."

Whitney's stepmother, Barbara Houston says that while Whitney was the sole beneficiary of a $1 million insurance policy left by her late father, John Houston in 2003, Babs claims John's estate instructions called for those funds to be used to pay off the balance of the mortgage owed on his New Jersey condominium, with Barbara getting the remainder of the funds. Whitney disputes all of Barbara Houston's claims.

Michael Vick Pleads Guilty

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty Tuesday to a state dogfighting charge, a move that could make him eligible to leave prison early and potentially speed up a return to pro football. Vick, 28, arrived wearing wrist and ankle shackles, but they were removed by the time he entered the courtroom. The former Atlanta Falcons star also pleaded not guilty to a count of cruelty to animals, but that count was dropped under his plea deal. Vick's mother, Brenda Boddie, brother Marcus Vick and fiancee Kijafa Frink walked in together and sat together in the front row of the gallery with other family and friends. Vick's mother declined to comment to reporters but Marcus Vick acknowledged the family was glad the ordeal was nearly over. After the hearing, Surry County Commonwealth Attorney Gerald Poindexter approached Vick's mother and hugged her, saying, "At least some of this is over." Vick already is serving a 23-month sentence in Leavenworth, Kan. for bankrolling a dogfighting operation at a home he owned in eastern Virginia's rural Surry County, southeast of Richmond. He also admitted to participating in the killing of several underperforming dogs. He's scheduled for release on July 20, 2009, and will serve three years of probation. The latest plea is important because it resolves the remaining charges against him, which is required under federal law if he is to move into a halfway house. He received a three-year suspended sentence Tuesday.

George Bush Pardons John Forté

Grammy-winning rapper John Forté's 14-year cocaine-smuggling sentence was commuted by President Bush last night after singer Carly Simon and Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch lobbied for him. The Brooklyn-born Forté was convicted of smuggling liquid coke into the country in 2000 after he was busted at Newark Airport. The former Fugees producer is serving time at the Fort Dix, NJ, federal prison.

Travis Wants A Child Support Cut

Former pro football player Travis Henry, who fathered nine children by nine women, returned to DeKalb County Superior Court on Wednesday to try to reduce child support payments for one son. Henry wants to modify an order to pay $3,000 a month to the boy’s mother, Jameshia Beacham. His lawyer said the amount should be reduced now that Henry is unemployed —- and likely out of the National Football League for good. Atlanta attorney Randall M. Kessler said Henry was released by the Denver Broncos because of his age —- he’s 30 —- and because of an injury. “He’s got child support obligations across the country, and he’s got zero income,” Kessler told Judge Clarence Seeliger. Henry also has other expenses. He was arrested last month in an alleged cocaine deal, and was released after posting a $400,000 bond. Seeliger set the child support payments last year, when Henry was working as a running back. The judge also ordered Henry to establish a $250,000 trust fund by last spring. The judge’s order noted that Henry had squandered money, spending $100,000 for a car and $146,000 for jewelry, and said the fund was required as backup should Henry fail to make payments. Henry appealed that order, and the Georgia Court of Appeals recently agreed to hear the case. Robert Wellon, lawyer for the mother, argued against reducing the monthly payments. He asked for documentation about how much Henry has spent from a $3 million payment the player received from the Broncos this year. He also asked the judge for time to determine whether Henry’s dismissal from the Broncos was involuntary or was precipitated by Henry’s own actions. Wellon said that if Henry was dismissed due to his own actions, the child support payments should not be reduced. “Voluntariness is never a ground for modification,” he said. In June, when the Broncos dumped Henry, coach Mike Shanahan was quoted by the Rocky Mountain News as saying that Henry was “too inconsistent as a person.” “We have certain expectations about the way we do things,” Shanahan said at the time. “He didn’t meet those.”Seeliger agreed to Wellon’s request to seek more information. The next hearing has not been scheduled.

Micheal Jackson will not have to testify in London after all. Mike recently settled the lawsuit filed against him by Bahrainian Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa who claims M Jack stiffed him out of $7 million dollars. And it's a good thing too. The Sheik had a signed agreement and everything so it was basically a slam dunk. R Kelly's nephew Brayel Kelly was charged as an adult on November 21 with attempted murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm, stemming from that barber shop robbery he tried to pull last month. Brayel remains hospitalized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Brayel's father is R. Kelly's younger brother, Carey Kelly. Carey accused the singer of being in sex tapes that surfaced six years ago.

R.I.P MC Breed

Flint, MI rapper MC Breed died this past Saturday, November 22 at age 36. In September Breed was admitted to an Atlanta area hospital for Kidney failure. He was placed on life support for a short time and appeared to be improving.

The Roots In A Bus Crash

The Roots' bus tipped over in Belgium, but everybody is ok. Bassist Owen Biddle released a statement saying they are, "all in surprisingly good shape and very thankful to be alive," after the bus lost control with the seven-piece band and five crew members mostly asleep. He goes on to describe the crash recalling, "I was startled awake, bracing against the roof of my bunk when the bus began violently rocking and eventually slammed down on it's left side, on top of a van, which our driver said had veered into us, sending both vehicles, wedged together, off the road and into trees beyond the right margin. Not knowing which way was up at first, I made my way out through the window of the upstairs back lounge, which was facing the ground and had been smashed by rescue workers. The response was immediate. We were taken to a nearby hotel as a sort of staging area. From there, I was one of two who opted to go to the hospital for X-rays, as I was having trouble lifting my right arm. Only minor stuff," he says. But the crash didn't stop the show. The Roots are back on the road headed to Paris to open for Kanye.

A Manhattan judge this week ordered the city to seize Dash's Chevrolet Tahoe, since he wasn't making the $714.99 monthly payment on the leased SUV. That October suit came on the heels of one in August, when Eastern Savings Bank foreclosed on the $7.3 million mortgage for two trendy Tribeca condos where the monthly $78,504.26 bill went unpaid for months. Dash faces an outstanding $2.1 million tab with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, a $4,500 bill from the state for not paying workers' comp and a suit that says he stiffed the law firm that handled his child-custody case. Dash even got dumped by another firm representing him in a $3.5 million suit against accountant-to-the-stars Barry Klarberg, who is accused of bungling his tax returns, costing him millions.

Neverland Sold Into Joint Venture

Micheal Jackson signed over part ownership of Neverland Ranch to Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC. Sycamore is actually a partnership between Mike and company called Colony Capital that owns the Las Vegas Hilton, the Red Rock Country Club and a few other Las Vegas properties. Word is Mike may end up singing for his supper at the Vegas Hilton in exchange for a place to stay. Oh and they're changing the name. From now on Neverland will be know as the Sycamore Valley Ranch.

Pepa In Real Estate Scandal

Sandy 'Pepa' Denton got drama with her ex-husband and his baby mama. One year after Pepa divorced Naughty by Nature front man Anthony 'Treach' Criss, she met and married this dude named Emora Horton. Soon after, Emora and Pep formed Scotch Bonnet Realty Corp. with Emora running the business. Within a year Emora got his ex-girl friend, Cateania Matthews, pregnant and he and Pep divorced but stayed in business together. At some point Emora and his baby mama Cateania pulled a scam where Scotch Bonnett Realty 'sold' her a house but the lied about the amount of money she put down on it in order to secure a home equity loan for $30,000.00.

Fast forward, Cateania is in bankruptcy court trying to get out of paying the loan while Pepa is claiming her name was forged on the transfer deed and that the house should still belong to her with no liens attached. In the end, Pep decided not to push it and told her lawyer, "I'm a mother; she's a mother. Fine, let it go." They say by the end of Tuesday's court proceedings, the two women were smiling, crying and hugging each other, clearly relieved to have put the legal battle behind them. Cateania is to give up the property as part of her Chapter 13 court proceedings.

They say P Diddy threw a hissy fit after his party decorations did not turn out as planned. District Judge Jackie Glass denied a motion for a new trial for O.J. Simpson. The Hall of Fame running back and his co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, had asked for the new trial after being convicted of kidnapping and armed robbery in the hotel room holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at Palace Station. Miriam Makeba, the South African singer who was banned from her own country for 30 years under apartheid, died early Monday after a concert in Italy. She was 76. The Pineta Grande Clinic, a private clinic near the southern city of Naples, said the singer died after being brought there. The ANSA news agency reported that Makeba apparently suffered a heart attack after performing for 30 minutes at a concert against organized crime.

Reports out of Chicago claim R. Kelly's 15 year old nephew was trying to rob a barber shop last night when he was shot twice by the shop owner. The nephew is currently being treated for chest wounds at a Chicago area hospital.
