After calling only 12 witnesses over two days, in stark contrast to the prosecution's parade of 22 witnesses over 7 days, and without R Kelly or the alleged victim taking the stand, the defense rested yesterday after trying to cast doubt on whether or not the jurors saw a mole on the back of the man in the video, which would prove it was R Kelly, whether or not the girl in the video was Kelly's, at the time, 13 year old goddaughter, and the validity of the testimony of Lisa Van Allen who claims to have had three-way sex with R Kelly and his underage lover. And here's something for you to chew on while we wait for the verdict. R Kelly believes his former manager and late singer Aaliyah's uncle, Barry Hankerson, is the one who leaked the infamous tape. Kelly said in an interview with CBS news shortly after tape hit the streets, “I have an ex-manager, you know, that I let go awhile ago. And ever since these people have been trying to come at me and trying to blackmail me. The reason these things are happening, I really do believe, is because of the fact that I didn’t fall back as far as blackmail is concerned. I didn’t give them any money,” Kelly said. @12:05 Actually *you* are a bit off. Hankerson isn't making accusations so his character has nothing to do with the trial. He hasn't testified and Kelly's defense team didnt even mention the theory that he leaked the tape--which btw is different than his other story that some mystery person fabricated the tape, but they havent explained who would be behind that either.
Hankerson's character and/or motives are irrelevant to the trial bc he has no role in it.
As for 'proof beyond a shadow of a doubt' -- actually the standard for the trial is *reasonable* doubt-- the word being reasonable. How likely is it or reasonable to believe that he is guilty of the charges the state of Illinois has made against him...that is the standard. SO the fact that Kelly has been blackmailed for so long and so often by his own admission doesn't cast has character or past actions in a favorable light.
Didn't Aaliyah have a child with R. Kelly?
I mean, wasn't that the reason why they got married, in the first place? At least, that was the rumor.
If this rumor was true, imagine the controvesy that it would cause, if that child was to come forth and prove that her dad is R. Kelly?

Actually after reading a few times, it doesn't appear to be a run-on sentence... just long as hell with a lot of comma phrases inserted.
There are so many wrongs here:
1. Why would Aaliyah's Uncle continue to work for a man who molested his neiece?
2. The little girl who he molested(rapped?) was his Goddaughter.
3. His statement around who leaked the tape leads me to believe that he acknowledged it was him.

this case just makes me want to scream. I think he'll get off because there was not enough presented to convict him. I mean really, how can they send a man to jail over a grainy video that may or may not be him and the testimony of family members with drug problems or an axe to grind. The prosecution's case was weak and the defense was worse, didn't give the poor jury much to work with.
