Is This Why Montel Was Fired?

Shortly after Montel Williams went off on a live Fox news show about the lack of news regarding troops dying in Iraq after they asked him about the death of Heath Ledger, CBS opted not to renew Montel's show and instead air highlights for the remainder of his contract.

Good for him. I didn't realize the show was not renewed. I was never crazy about his show, or him for that matter, but you have to admire a person who stands for something.

I second that. I wouldn't doubt that this was an excuse to let him go. He didn't say anything out of line, he just didn't stick to the topic.

CBS seems to be doing some house cleaning for whatever reason.

Remember they also got rid of Don Imus.

I second the first comment.

I doubt he was fired. His show has been irrelevant for the past 8 years. He kept doing the same darn stories every other week.
Montel is older, he has some young white tail at home. That man quit to chase it as much as he pleases before the pool boy can even think of hitting it.

if his show was not renewd because he told the truth, then it is okay.montel had 17 years.i am quite sure montel has a nice nest egg. he will be fine money wise. if cbs went out like that, somebody is going to get theirs because god don't like ugly. montel was correct. heath was okay and from what the family said he was a good man. i bet he would not have wanted all that attention over him anyhow. he was humble. it is a shame how big stars and the rich are looked upon like they are gods and we should be glad they are among us. "get the f@#$ outta here" i think someone should have finally spoke up. montel was the man to do it. i really did not care for montel much but now i have much respect for him. he just said what other people were afraid to say.

Respect to Montel for bringing up a topic that is actually relevant. What bothers me though is the fact that he didn't bring up the innocent men, women and children who are also dying in Iraq. Best believe it has a higher number than United States Troops.

oh who gives a flying fucking shit who owns what, the bottom line is the black man has no voice in this industry and never will (period).

They give the black women pseudo power to keep you all in check but at the end of the day your history if you don't put on the knee pads.

Speaking as a Political Science student (4ht year), I think that it is dissapointment that the media chooses which informaton to share with the viewers. I already knew that Fox will never air live video, or footage of the war. We will never see video of civilians getting bombed and soldiers dying. Only poli sci classes show the ugly truth. If people saw the videos, they would not join the Army. I heard feb.2 that Montel is in his last season by choice. Clearly he was told to not ever speak politics and talk about Fox's "ratings". It makes Americans sound dumb and uneducated, like if we speak about Heath, then people will forget to find out about how many troops died today.

Yah right... We know better.. I know better.

If you only saw the Iraq videos in 2004 of how CHILDREN loose their limbs, eyes, and get 2nd degree burns from getting blown up by a road side bomb. It makes everyone feel deeply sad and tearful. These children become physically disfigured, and emotionally scared because of being victims of a war. SOldiers are fighting someone elses war! It is no wonder that in most poli sci classes the videos end with kids saying "I hate Americans" etc, because all they know is that their life is forever changed because of a war waged upon them.

America we can do better!

Little did Montel know, that headline would, shortly after this interview, apply to his career.

Montel's show hasn't been worth watching in 10 years. His shows were all Sylvia Browne who is wrong so much it's ridiculous. Hey she said that crappy Tv show he started on CBS about 10 years ago would go on forever, that shit didn't last a month. (Matt Waters I think.) By man recent accounts Montel is not a nice guy. He had a great run and outlasted Sally, Ricki, Yolanda, Iylana, and a bunch of others who got their show cancelled without saying anything political. One reason why aren't taken seriously as a people is that we get mad at the wrong stuff.

Montel talked about the real issues that affect the middle class and lower class Amercia. Issues such as rape, crime, health insurance bs, investigations, etc. I only watched the Slyvia Brown epidsodes, but thats because its depressing to see how average people get victimized in the usa. id rather watch happier shows like tyra... or oprah. I dont watch oprah either if its about real issues because life is already stressful. I dont want to hear about child molestation on my freetime.

He might start a new show elsewhere.

Fuck Oprah. Oprah did a show on "living with HIV/AIDS" and a woman on there sat there and talked about how she still dates, but, because she has AIDS, she doesn't "necessarily date the guys she would if she didn't have it". So Oprah's like, "So you've lowered your standards?" And the girl's like, yeah. Only a feminist cunt-pig could get filled up with AIDS-sauce and STILL somehow manage to feel superior to guys. Shut the FUCK up and be grateful anyman is risking his dick at all bringing it near anyplace near you.

As for Heath, if the media is gonna be talkin' about him, at the very least, let's explore why a seemingly healthy 28-year-old man dropped dead. Something was seriously wrong there. I don't want ra-ra troop worship on my nightly news, to be honest. Got nothin' against the troops, but their presence there, and their absurd war there, is only going to feul terrorism and anti-American sentiment in the future.

Montel was trying to make the point to CBS, that while they think news about worthless scrum bags like Health /Britany/Paris/Lindsay and the other drug, law breaking infested scrum bags are filling up the airways with their bull shit, people are dying for our country, that we act like we don't give a shit about.

You can get on these blogs and talk all the shit you want, but I thank soldiers whenever I see them for fighting for my country. Because you best believe, if we would not have took it to them, they would be over here!

I like Montel I didnt like his show especially the Fraud psychic that he had on his show way too often. But I loved they way he changed the focus from Hollywoods money making druggie to a men and women ( really teenagers) fighting and dieing for this country.

yea i like how he speaks the fuccin truth but us americans today all believe n hear wha we like but most hold it in and dont even stand up for what we believe in nor do anything to help the country out only complain and gossip our whole lifes isnt getting us anywhere and yes with the people we have in control of everything like showbiz and entertainment if you dont play by their rules and have opinions they will get you where it hurt ya pockets money rules the world and if anyone gets power most take it the wrong way yet abusing it... when will we all actually wake the fucc up seriously..

People don't like the fact that Montel is totally right. Everytime a celebrity dies they act like that's the only person in the world to die that day. They don't publish that much when it's a black celeb. Luther Vandross's mother passed away. I heard one short story on it and haven't heard anything since. Where and when was her funeral or memorial. Bob Marley's mother passed away the next day. Nothing more heard.

CBS owns the show, but many Fox-owned stations chose not to renew their Montel contracts after the Fox and Friends comments.

So... yeah. Fox fired him.
