UGK Gets Grammy Nod
UGK has been nominated for the best rap performance by a duo or group for their collaboration with OutKast for their song Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You). The song is up against Common, featuring Kanye West, Fat Joe, featuring Lil Wayne, Shop Boyz and a track featuring West, Nas and KRS-One.UGK member Bun B had this to say, "While this nomination is bittersweet to say the least, I am thankful for the acknowledgement. And as this was a lifelong dream for Chad [Pimp C], it warms my heart to know that he has finally gotten the recognition from the powers that be that his talent, passion and relentless drive for music so rightfully deserved."
Pimp C was found dead in his hotel room last week in Los Angeles.

I hope that they win...they worked so hard to get at this point.
I pray that his family and fans can move forward and let his legacy live on.

Good for them; thats a hot song and Andre 3000 killed it. I thought Jay-Z killed it too until i found out that verse of his was recycled from another song.
I think Jay was on the remix, not the original.

I don't think his passing has anything to with their nomination. I think its because they had another rap duo that had already appealed to the masses that collaborated on the track and it got noticed.
Its fucked that it takes a collaboration for your talent to get noticed by a more mainstream audience. Music politiks sucks.
Must be MERCY GRAMMY season - UGK (never heard of them until Pimp C died)and Kanye West has about 8 nominations.

UGK is the ish and always has been!! The only reason they giving them this award is because Pimp C is dead! Ugk should have been gotten an award just for being in the game for so long!!

This happens every year. Somebody dies or gets injured or something, then they win a grammy. Don't even bullshit yourself and think they sat through a UGK album looking for a song to nominate. No disrespect to his passing but...he was wack. If Big Gip would have died they would have nominated that wack ass collabo album he he did with dude from the St. Lunatics. Who??? EXACTLY!!!
^^^I'm not fronting like I knew UGK's history cuz I don't I only became aware of them since 'Big Pimpin' with Jay, but Pimp C was wack to me also Bun B is better in my opinion & he's NOT great as a lyricist. Bun B in interviews seems a lot more intelligent than his rhyme parther.

I think Grammy nominations are decided at a set time. You're album has to come out at a certain time or if its been out for at least a year then they take the polls from there. I think they would have been nominated for anyway. Its just sad to know that he's not here to acknowledge it.

Uh, they decide the nominations way in advance. It's not a last minute type of thing. These are white folks. UGK deserves the nomination. That's a hot song. They've had other hot songs too. It's about time.

Hate to be a late asshole but the group NARAS that chooses the songs to be nominated only turn in the songs the day before they are announced. They do it to keep the show caught up with current trends. He died 2 days before he was niominated.

^^^True didn't know that. All in all, I (personally) think its about time. It shouldn't be based on pity. Besides that, we act like they won it already, its just a nomination. They might give it to Kanye (his Moms just died....pity?)or Common(that would be cool). Congratulations to the nominees.
The Underground Kings was the best album of 07. Can I please get my money back for buying the Kanye album, I should of bought toilet tissue, and we won't even mention Curtis of my goodness
